A Secondary school in Redbridge is looking for a Facilities Assistant within their expanding Trust. This role is for 52 weeks a year, and it is a 36hrs pw contract.

You will be dealing with all aspects of security, maintenance, dealing with resources, organised supervisory and promoting health and safety.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lock/unlock school buildings and areas and operate and respond to alarms.
  • Monitor CCTV or surveillance equipment where appropriate.
  • Undertake regular security checks and identify security risks.
  • To carry out checks and maintain and identify repairs, knowledge of minor plumbing, redecorating and storage facilities. Moving furniture and putting up shelves etc.
  • Operation and maintenance of heating, plant, and lighting systems
  • Monitor and maintain records of electrical testing.
  • Undertake cleaning duties such as graffiti, litter picking and be flexible to help in an emergency.
  • Ensure that satisfactory levels of caretaking, cleanliness and hygiene are achieved and maintained throughout the whole of the premises e.g., free of litter, weeds, surfaces are gritted/ salted when required.
  • Routine inspections of all fixtures and fittings, reporting this as and when required.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge and awareness of managing a school’s security, day to day running and maintenance needs.
  • A full awareness of health, hygiene, and hazards and how to control and maintain these in a school environment.
  • Willingness to develop knowledge of use of ICT and other specialist equipment/ resources
  • Knowledge of moving and handling procedures
  • Relevant/ Handy person experience
  • Able to update information on the computer and send emails to departments as required
