MAIN AREA OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Take the lead for the team to deliver the commitments of the council to appraise planning applications, licensing applications and construction projects for issues relating to noise pollution or nuisance and other pollution nuisance. Make recommendations regarding any conditions to be applied to any application and make decisions as to the issuing of relevant permits as appropriate
  • Provide specialist advice on environmental protection and noise pollution matters and the application of legislation to immediate colleagues and those in other departments and agencies.
  • Hold a caseload of pollution cases, those normally requiring specialist acoustic related knowledge and experience, such as relating to commercial premises nuisances and applications (Planning etc.).
  • Respond to tight deadlines, conflicting priorities and often fast-changing circumstances.
  • When undertaking duties, take account of the vulnerabilities of both repeat victims and also those from particular groups. Identify possible cases, make decisions and implement appropriate safeguarding referrals as necessary.
  • Put effective and lawful information sharing into practice at all stages of case management; balancing operational need with the data protection and confidentiality considerations.



Requirements
  • To hold an appropriate Environmental Health Registration Board approved academic qualification - in, an MSc, BSc (Hons) or Diploma in Environmental Health or equivalent qualification
  • Post Qualification experience of Noise Work
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • Institute of Acoustics Certificate of competence in Environmental Noise Measurement or must study and gain this qualification within 6-9 months of appointment.
  • Possession of a clean full driving licence


Contract
  • Initial 3 to 6 month ongoing contract with the opportunity to extend
  • PAYE via Umbrella
  • Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
