Product Developer/ Production Manager: The Company

Successful and financially stable. The company is an exciting Luxury fashion, predominantly, menswear streetwear brand. Based in East London.

They are looking for a hands on, multi skilled Product Developer/Production Manager, to organise their current production and help bring in new factories and support the development of the wholesale division on specific products.

Preferably with high end, quality experience. Coupled with the speed of the high street. However, garment knowledge is essential. You need to understand how a garment is put together. Also, that you have had experience of managing a budget and costing

Client would prefer the Production Manager to start in November /December 2024: but is flexible

Product & Production Manager: The Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working very closely with Design/Technical/Sample Room & Sales team.
  • On-boarding new factories in Europe, China and Indonesia asap.
  • Factory visits managing the factories and QC (when possible)
  • Streamlining current processes and working methods
  • Responsible for running the small sampling unit, checking that the sampling and small production runs are on track.
  • Managing entire company production mens, womens tailoring & soft-separates. As the business grows more people will be added to your team.
  • Managing and communicating critical paths to clients and internally
  • Negotiating pricing with factories and ensuring margins are kept on each product
  • Budgets and costings for projects as required working with Product development and Sales teams.
  • Travel may be required
  • Working with the technical team to make sure garments are ordered to spec and factories understand all relevant information.
  • Supporting the Director with Supplier/Material sourcing and development across multiple bespoke menswear collections
  • Placing all orders. Creating and updating the development spreadsheets material and trim reference / prices. Create accessory, print and embroidery specs in Adobe Illustrator. Managing the in-house fabric and trim library to optimise productivity and archival resources
  • Updating Specification sheets with components
  • Enquiries and updates on cloth and trim sampling and bulk orders, pricing and lead-times. Confirming cloth and trim information in-house and updating costing spreadsheets. Monitoring and updating material stocks at CMT and inhouse. Sourcing and developing components and suppliers to the creative brief.
  • Recording material technical data to cross reference that fabrics are to spec needed. This includes Fabric testing and wearer trials coordination.

Product & Production Manager: The Candidate

  • At the beginning you will be managing the entire company production mens, tailoring & soft-separates, accessories including shoes. (small amount of women/unisex)
  • So, you will have a Proven track record required working for a UK premium or lifestyle brand or supplier. Minimum 2-year experience in similar role
  • Experience liaising with external suppliers and factories.
  • The candidate MUST have a large network of factories and a network of people that they can reach out to in order to find other potentially more specific factories.
  • The client already works in China and is keen to transfer part of the current UK production overseas. Including In order to cut costs and use techniques that arent used in UK based factories.
  • Also wants to produce more of the high-end pieces in Italy
  • Previous garment production, manufacturing, and supply chain knowledge at every stage of the critical path
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Excellent IT skills Illustrator & Excell
  • Excellent verbal and written communication style
  • Very efficient with great attention to detail. This is essential.
  • You will cope well under pressure. This is a very fast-paced environment with numerous small orders to be managed at any one time.
  • Good eye needs to be able to interpret designs and find appropriate cloth / trims to realise the designers vision
