Pay Rate: 21.71 per hour (PAYE)
Working Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 08:45 - 17:00
Location: IG1 1NY
We seek a Temporary Accommodation Officer to support individuals and families needing short-term housing. In this role, you will be responsible for managing temporary accommodation placements, ensuring compliance with housing regulations, and providing essential support to residents during their stay. You will play a key role in safeguarding vulnerable individuals while working closely with landlords, housing providers, and support services to deliver safe and suitable accommodation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage temporary accommodation placements, ensuring residents are housed in suitable and safe environments.
- Assess housing applications and determine eligibility based on policies and legal guidelines.
- Liaise with landlords, housing associations, and private accommodation providers to secure and maintain temporary housing stock.
- Conduct property inspections to ensure accommodations meet health, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Provide advice and support to residents, signposting them to relevant services for financial assistance, employment, or permanent housing solutions.
- Handle tenancy-related issues, including rent payments, disputes, and breaches of occupancy agreements.
- Work closely with local authorities, social services, and support agencies to address residents' needs.
- Maintain accurate records and case files, ensuring compliance with data protection and housing legislation.
- Assist in moving residents to permanent housing, offering guidance on tenancy sustainment and independent living.
What We're Looking For:
- Experience in housing, homelessness services, or property management (preferred).
- Knowledge of housing legislation, temporary accommodation policies, and welfare benefits.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support vulnerable individuals in challenging situations.
- Excellent problem-solving and negotiation skills to resolve accommodation issues effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively with external partners, landlords, and service providers.
- Strong administrative and IT skills to maintain case records and housing databases.
- A proactive, empathetic, and resilient approach to managing complex cases.
