Role Overview: BSL Teacher (Level 3)
As a member of the School Support Team, you will play a key role in assisting students with hearing impairments, ensuring they have full access to the curriculum and school life. You will work closely with teaching staff, students, and families to provide tailored support, using your British Sign Language (BSL) skills to facilitate communication and learning.
Key Responsibilities: BSL Teacher (Level 3)
- Support students who use BSL, both in the classroom and during extracurricular activities.
- Work collaboratively with teachers to adapt lesson materials and resources.
- Promote an inclusive environment, ensuring students with hearing impairments feel supported and engaged.
- Provide one-to-one or small group support as required.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Contribute to the wider school community through active participation in events and initiatives.
Essential Requirements for this BSL Teacher (Level 3) post:
- BSL Level 3 qualification
- Experience working with children or young people, ideally in a school setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students.
Desirable Requirements for this post:
- Previous experience supporting students with hearing impairments.
- Knowledge of Special Educational Needs (SEN) policies and procedures.
- Ability to work flexibly as part of a team.
