About the role of a Science Teacher - Redbridge
- Ensure that all students assigned to the post holder receive quality instruction and learning opportunities.
- Supervise the work of any support staff assigned to the post holder's students, including teaching assistants and support teachers.
- Provide support to the department head.
- Preparation of teaching and learning materials
- Managing their classroom's health and safety and behaviour
- Keeping an eye on quality and standards, and reporting on them
- Taking part in departmental planning and self-evaluation
- Supporting other teachers and support staff with professional development
- Providing advice to the Head of Department on appropriate resources and materials
- Contributing to and leading science events for students at the school and in the wider community
- Offering guidance and advice to pupils regarding their educational and career goals.

Qualifications for a Science Teacher
- 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), or equivalent, including Science, English, and Maths.
- An Undergraduate Education degree or a degree in a science subject, such as biology, physics or chemistry and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). This is usually included as part of a PGCE course.
- In-school teaching experience, gained through your Teacher training.
- Fluent level of spoken and written English.
