The Role:
As a Full-Time Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting teachers and students across various subjects and year groups. Your primary responsibility will be to work closely with students to provide tailored support, both in and out of the classroom, ensuring they can access the curriculum, build confidence, and develop key skills. You will also support students with additional learning needs, helping to create an inclusive and positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students, including those with additional learning needs or disabilities.
- Assist the teacher in the preparation of lesson materials and resources.
- Support students in completing classwork, homework, and projects.
- Monitor students' progress and provide feedback to teachers on individual student performance.
- Help maintain a positive and productive classroom environment, promoting respect, teamwork, and student engagement.
- Support students with social and emotional development, helping them build resilience and independence.
- Assist in the delivery of interventions or additional support for students requiring extra help.
- Help students develop effective study and organisational skills, supporting their academic growth.
- Promote students' well-being and safeguard their health and safety within the school environment.
- Support extracurricular activities and school trips as required.
- Collaborate with other staff members, including teachers, pastoral staff, and SENCOs, to ensure students' needs are met.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience working with secondary school-aged students is desirable, but not essential.
- A strong interest in supporting students' learning and development.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with students in a supportive, compassionate manner.
- The ability to work as part of a team, supporting teachers and other staff members in achieving common goals.
- Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude towards students of all abilities.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- A commitment to supporting students with diverse needs, including those with learning difficulties or disabilities.
- A willingness to learn and take part in professional development opportunities.
- A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent, is desirable but not essential.
