The school:

This school's staff team takes pride in providing a high-quality, personalised, inclusive, and inspiring education to all pupils. Running parallel to their academic offer is a programme of wrap-around pastoral care which ensures their pupils' emotional, social, and mental health needs are met.

They challenge pupils to take responsibility, modify their behaviour, improve attitudes to school life and make academic progress across the range and breadth of curriculum opportunities available. In addition to classroom-based learning, pupils are provided with enrichment opportunities throughout the academic year.

They respect that all our pupils are individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds and life experiences. The school passionately believe that by assisting pupils to overcome their personal barriers they will be best placed to access meaningful education, develop their aspirations, and become contributing members of society.

Key Responsibilities for a Behaviour Mentor:

  • Provide individualised support to students with ASD and SEMH needs, promoting their well-being and encouraging positive behaviour.
  • Promote all students to improve behaviour through educational vices whilst also supporting and managing social and emotional needs
  • Collaborate closely with the class teacher and other professionals to develop tailored educational plans that meet the specific needs of each student.
  • Help students feel accepted in their differences and channel new outlooks to feed an exceptional future. The leadership believe that there are no "bad" kids, just impressionable, conflicted young people wrestling emotions and impulses.
  • Assist in implementing effective teaching strategies and interventions to enhance the learning experience for students with SEMH.
  • The students based in this school are battling stigmas and you would help create an environment safe enough for them to find new ways to communicate and process these feelings.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Knowledge of effective behaviour management strategies and interventions, as well as a commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Relevant qualifications and certifications in SEN support are desirable but not essential.
