Job Overview: The Living Well Network Alliance (LWNA) is seeking a skilled and motivated Social Worker to join the Mental Health Social Work Team. This role involves working with individuals with mental health needs, carrying out statutory social work tasks, and supporting service users in line with the Care Act, Safeguarding protocols, Mental Capacity Act (MCA), and other statutory frameworks.
Key Responsibilities: As a Social Worker, you will be responsible for the following:
  • Care Act Assessments: Conducting assessments, care planning, and arranging social care packages to meet the needs of service users.
  • Placement and Community Reviews: Reviewing the needs and services for existing service users in placements and the community.
  • Safeguarding: Completing safeguarding screenings and enquiries, ensuring positive outcomes through effective reporting and interventions.
  • Mental Capacity Assessments: Carrying out Mental Capacity Assessments and making Best Interest Decisions in line with statutory guidance.
  • Court of Protection: Leading work related to the Court of Protection and, when necessary, assisting with appointeeship processes.
Required Skills and Experience: The ideal candidate will possess:
  • Strong Statutory Social Work Knowledge: A solid understanding of statutory duties under the Care Act, Safeguarding, MCA, and other related frameworks.
  • Social Work Experience: Relevant experience in social work, particularly within a statutory context, is essential.
  • Mental Health Knowledge: While prior experience in Mental Health Social Work is valuable, it is not a strict requirement.
  • Record-Keeping Proficiency: Experience with statutory social work records and systems, particularly Mosaic for social work records and ePJS for clinical records.
Working Environment:
  • Hybrid Model: The team operates on a hybrid working model, with a combination of homeworking and attendance at the Team Base and Civic Centre in Brixton. Some service users may need to be seen at home, in hospital, or at placements for proper assessments.
  • Duty Requirement: Social Workers will participate in the Social Work Duty rota. Duty shifts are carried out at the Civic Centre on average once a week.
Qualifications:
  • Social Work Degree (or equivalent)
  • Registered with Social Work England
