Long Term Futures are looking for a passionate and dedicated Complex Needs Teaching Assistant (ASD Focused) to support the educational and developmental needs of students with complex learning and behavioural difficulties in a primary school. The chosen applicant will collaborate closely with parents, teachers, and therapists to provide students across Key Stage 1 with individualised support to help the student develop academically and socially.

As a Teaching Assistant you will:

  • Provide one-on-one and group support to students with Special Educational Needs, including Autism, Behavioural Difficulties, and Non-verbal.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies tailored to each student's needs.
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers to adapt lessons and activities to meet the needs of children with Special Educational Needs.
  • Support students in developing social, communication, and life skills.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Attend training sessions and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education.

Person Specification:

  • Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs in a primary or SEN school environment.
  • A relevant qualification in special education or child development is desirable (e.g., CACHE Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, NVQ Level 3 in Childcare).
  • Strong understanding of ASD, ADHD, ADD.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with special needs.
