Complete Classroom Services is working with a wonderfully diverse Mainstream Primary School in Redbridge. They are seeking a passionate and experienced Special Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join their dynamic and inclusive school. Upon joining, you will be directly Access to Good References and an Enhanced DBS

As an SEN TA, you will be working closely with children who have a range of additional needs, including those who are non-verbal, have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and have Speech, Language, and Communication needs (SLCN). Your role will be vital in ensuring these pupils receive the tailored support they need to thrive in their learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

Provide one-to-one and small group support to children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly those with ASD, ADHD, and SLCN.Work closely with the class teacher to deliver differentiated learning strategies tailored to individual pupils' needs.Implement support plans and interventions, including sensory activities, behaviour management techniques, and visual communication tools (such as PECS)Assist in promoting social integration and developing life skills for pupils within the classroom and during playtimes.Monitor and record the progress of pupils, adapting support plans as required in collaboration with SENCO and class teachers.Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment, helping children to build self-confidence, self-esteem, and resilience.Work alongside other professionals such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists, to provide holistic support.Support with personal care needs when required.Key Requirements

Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience working as a Teaching Assistant, specifically supporting children with SEN.Communication Skills: Experience working with non-verbal children, using communication methods like Makaton or PECS, is highly desirable.Behavioural Support: Experience in supporting children with SEN and behavioural difficulties, with the ability to implement strategies to manage challenging behaviours.Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and external specialists, contributing to a wider support network for each child.Empathy and Patience: A compassionate approach, with patience and understanding for the needs of each individual child
