As a Year 1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll play a key role in supporting a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Your day-to-day responsibilities will include working one-to-one with the child, providing targeted support to help them access the curriculum, and helping them develop essential social and emotional skills. You'll also be working closely with the class teacher and the school's experienced SEN team, who will support you in tailoring strategies to meet the child's needs. Beyond your role with the child, you'll be part of a team that fosters a collaborative and welcoming school environment. As a Year 1 SEN Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
- Offering one-to-one support to a child with ASD, ensuring they feel confident and included in lessons, activities, and social interactions
* Assisting the class teacher with the delivery of engaging and differentiated lessons to meet the child's specific learning needs
* Supporting the child in developing their communication and social skills, helping them interact with their peers and teachers in a positive way
* Encouraging and promoting good behaviour using proven strategies and providing positive reinforcement
* Assisting with the child's progress tracking and providing feedback to the class teacher, SENCO, and parents
* Helping to maintain a calm, structured, and supportive classroom environment that fosters a love for learning
