Job OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dispatcher to join our clients logistics team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in coordinating transportation operations, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of goods. This position requires strong communication skills, the ability to analyse data and proficiency in transportation management systems. The Dispatcher will be responsible for liaising with drivers, clients and various departments to facilitate seamless logistics operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and oversee the picking, packing, and shipping of goods to the correct destinations.
  • Make sure all necessary documentation is completed to avoid any delays in shipping.
  • Work with hauliers (transport companies) to ensure timely and smooth deliveries.
  • Use SAP to track goods and ensure accurate records.
  • Confirm shipments leave on time and all paperwork is correct.
  • Complete required import documents to prevent any delays in receiving goods.
  • Ensure customs declarations are accurate and in line with the supporting documents.
  • Take responsibility for safety and follow environmental and health standards.
  • Manage third-party logistics providers to ensure safety regulations are met.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and hauliers to ensure smooth operations.
  • Keep customers updated on their deliveries and resolve any issues.
  • Address any problems or delays in the import/export process and update procedures as needed.
  • Look for ways to automate or simplify the administration of import/export processes.
  • Keep import/export logs updated and communicate key performance metrics.
  • Provide feedback to hauliers and suggest improvements for better collaboration.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in a logistics planning or stock ground administration role ideally but is not essential
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and SAP is essential
  • Strong working knowledge of the company’s product offer and its manufacturing/logistics processes is desirable

Skills:

  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work flexibly to meet changing priorities and deadlines in an unpredictable and reactive environment
  • Good written and verbal communication skills including listening and questioning
  • Good negotiation skills for dealing with hauliers and packers
  • Quality focus, accuracy and attention to detail
