Are you a compassionate and dedicated SEND Support Assistant?

A welcoming primary school in Ilkeston is seeking an enthusiastic individual to provide 1:1 support for a Year 2 pupil with specific needs, including cognitive delays, personal care requirements, and physical support. This position will commence in January 2025 for the rest of the academic year.

What We're Looking For:
  • Experience working with children, particularly those with additional needs such as cognitive delays.
  • Confidence in providing personal care and physical support in a school setting.
  • Patience, empathy, and adaptability to ensure the pupil feels safe, valued, and included.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with teachers, SENDCOs, therapists, and parents to implement tailored strategies.
  • A proactive approach to fostering independence and encouraging engagement in learning.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver 1:1 support tailored to the Year 2 pupil's needs and learning objectives (working at a Year 1 level).
  • Assist with personal care tasks, ensuring the pupil's comfort and dignity.
  • Facilitate access to the curriculum and engagement in classroom activities.
  • Monitor progress and adapt strategies in collaboration with the class teacher and SENDCO.
  • Encourage a positive, inclusive learning environment where the pupils can thrive.
