A secondary school in Ilkeston are looking to appoint a English Tutor to work with secondary school students, tutoring in students homes and within the school. This role offers the chance to make a real impact on students' academic journeys by tutoring English across KS3 and KS4. You'll also have the opportunity to work flexibly in students home and within the school.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver English tutoring to secondary school students, with a focus on KS3 & KS4.
  • Provide 1:1 and small group intervention sessions to improve reading, literacy, and English skills.
  • Prepare Year 11 students for their upcoming GCSE exams.
  • Work with non-attending students who may require 1:1 tutoring outside of a classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with subject teachers to develop and implement effective support strategies.
  • Travel to students' homes or other community locations to deliver sessions (fuel expenses paid).

Requirements:

  • Full UK driving licence is essential.
  • At least one year's experience as a tutor or educator, preferably in English.
  • Confidence in supporting students with varied needs in a 1:1 or small group setting.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • Commitment to improving students' reading, literacy, and overall English performance.
  • Ability to work independently and flexibly in the school and in homes.
