EXTERNAL AFFAIRS SPECIALISTJoin this UK-wide housing association as their new External Affairs Manager. This position will require someone outgoing who can form relationships with stakeholders at all levels, both inside and outside the organisation, to drive positive outcomes for customers.This is office based 3 days per week and can be based in BURNLEY, BRADFORD, CAMBERLEY or PETERBOROUGHExperience in an External Affairs role is essential. Experience in the public sector or housing would be useful but not essentialKey Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with senior leaders (inside and outside of the organisation) to connect to vital audiences including local authorities, politicians and partners
  • Identify and drive strong relationships to help build the companies profile and stakeholder relationships
  • Ensure the groups reputation is protected and enhanced
  • Responsible for responding to queries from teams to advise on engagement plans and share actionable insights and content
  • Deliver the regional stakeholder visit programme
  • Work with the PR Specialist and wider team to ensure stakeholders are kept up to date on developments
  • Support on engagement events and organise round tables on policy briefings, engagement and insights
  • Work with regional leaders to manage issues and opportunities 
  • Find public speaking opportunities and ensure briefing material is created to support these
  • Ensure responses are effective and evidence based
  • Drive policy campaign opportunities with the wider campaign team
Experience Required:
  • Previous experience in an External Affairs/Public Affairs role is essential
  • Understanding and experience lobbying and influencing in the local and national political system
  • Self assured and confident working with stakeholders, at all levels, both internal and externally
  • Experience delivering strategy and influencing
  • Knowledge hosing policy would be useful
  • Able to manage research projects
  • Event management experience
  • Strong communications skills, in person and in writing
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Positive, energetic and proactive
  • Strong customer service skills
  • A willingness to work on projects sometimes outside of the "traditional" day to day
