Butler Rose is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a client in the Ilminster area. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented procurement professional to join a forward-thinking organisation who are looking for a Procurement Specialist to take ownership of key procurement activities, ensuring operational requirements are met efficiently while contributing to the continuous improvement of processes.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage the purchase of materials in line with operational needs, taking action based on the requirements generated by the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system.
- Ensure the accuracy and maintenance of supplier lead times, safety stock levels, and other procurement parameters within the MRP/ERP system. Keep all purchase orders and amendments updated.
- Support the tendering process for new materials or services and collaborate with internal teams to negotiate optimal pricing and terms, securing the best outcomes for the organisation.
- Build and nurture strong, proactive relationships with suppliers to ensure reliability and quality of supply.
- Work closely with internal teams and suppliers to optimise inventory levels, ensuring stock availability aligns with product lifecycles and business needs.
- Contribute to cost-reduction initiatives by identifying savings opportunities and implementing effective changes.
- Monitor and report on procurement performance indicators such as On-Time In-Full (OTIF), quality metrics, and Purchase Price Variance (PPV). Develop and execute action plans to achieve performance targets.
- Foster collaboration across departments to address purchasing challenges and ensure the business's operational requirements are met.
- Identify and implement process improvements in procurement and supply chain operations, introducing tools and procedures that drive efficiency and support long-term business goals.
- Adhere to Health & Safety regulations and company policies, including quality and environmental standards.
What We're Looking For:
This role requires someone who can balance operational demands with a focus on process improvement. You should be highly organised, confident using a range of systems, have good base procurement experience (as a minimum) and be capable of building strong working relationships.
