Senior Buyer, Manufacturing Supply Chain

About the Role
This High Tech manufacturer is Senior Buyer to join their dynamic team.
In this fast-paced role, as a Senior Buyer you will ensure a smooth supply chain by sourcing materials, negotiating with suppliers, and managing procurement processes. Collaboration with engineering, production, and quality assurance will be key in optimising strategies and maintaining strong supplier relationships.

Key Responsibilities
- Purchase direct materials based on operational needs, managing requirements, adjusting delivery schedules, and expediting as needed.
- Maintain part and procurement parameters in the system, including supplier lead times, safety stock levels, and yields. Ensure all purchase orders and amendments are consistently updated.
- Lead tender processes for new requirements, negotiating pricing and terms to secure the best outcomes.
- Build and maintain proactive relationships with suppliers.
- Manage inventory effectively by collaborating with internal and external partners to optimize stock levels in line with product lifecycle and business needs.
- Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives.
- Oversee supplier quality by working with suppliers and internal departments to establish robust corrective actions for any non-conformities.
- Collaborate with the product team to manage procurement for new product introductions.
- Regularly monitor Procurement KPIs (OTIF, Quality, MPV) and share updates along with action plans to achieve targets.
- Foster strong internal relationships, working with all teams to address purchasing issues and needs.
- Drive continuous improvement by collaborating with colleagues to enhance procurement and supply chain processes, implementing new tools and procedures identified for group rollout.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- CIPS Qualification
- Knowledge of contracts and contract management practices.
- Strong IT skills, with experience using MRP systems.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities at all levels.
- Experience in implementing Pull Control or Vendor Managed Inventory processes with suppliers.
- Project management capabilities.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- High concentration and attention to detail.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Reliable team player who can also work independently and take initiative.
