The Role
We are looking for an experienced Cyber Risk Management Lead to join our central cyber security team. This role will be responsible for implementing and continuously improving our cyber risk management framework, ensuring security governance, risk, and compliance across both Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) domains.
This role within VPI's cyber security operating model, with opportunities to work closely with regulators, senior stakeholders, and cross-functional teams. You will also support business development projects and act as a key stakeholder in the design and implementation of cyber security policies and risk management operations.
The role can be based in Immingham or London, with travel to other sites required and hybrid working, 3 days in the office.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead cyber risk assessment activities across IT and OT environments, correlating outputs into group-wide strategic risk tracking.
- Manage the cyber security risk toolkit, ensuring the proportionate use of threat modelling, attack trees, and scenario-based exercises.
- Develop and implement cyber security policies, processes, and staff training aligned with Secure by Design principles.
- Oversee first-line security operations, including managing an outsourced 24/7 Security Operations Centre (SOC).
- Define and manage VPI's cyber threat intelligence requirements.
- Provide cyber risk consultancy for business development projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to supply chain risk management, assessing supplier risks related to asset criticality, remote access, and sensitive data exposure.
- Act as Deputy NIS Reporting Officer (NRO), ensuring compliance with the NCSC's Cyber Assessment Framework (CAF) and NIS regulations.
- Support cyber incident response efforts, managing containment, remediation, and business continuity.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Proven experience in cyber risk management, governance, and compliance.
- Strong knowledge of cyber security in critical infrastructure sectors (energy, transport, water, etc.).
- Experience with NCSC Secure by Design principles and Cyber Assessment Framework (CAF).
- Hands-on experience managing SIEM alerts, control configurations, and security policies.
- Ability to translate technical cyber security risks into actionable business insights.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging with regulators.
- Experience in leading incident response and managing cyber security frameworks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
- UK Driving Licence
Desirable:
- Certifications such as CISM, CISSP, ISO 27001, SANS GICSP, or cloud security certifications (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Experience with Splunk, IBM QRadar, Microsoft Sentinel, ArcSight, or LogRhythm SIEM tools.
- Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., Ofgem, Cyber Essentials, ISO 27001).
- Line management or mentoring experience.
