The Role
My Client is looking for an experienced EC&I engineer to lead and advise on the long-term maintenance of the station's HV and LV electrical systems. This role, based within the Engineering team in the Humber Region, is responsible for ensuring the integrity, reliability, and compliance of all electrical systems on-site.
The successful candidate will provide specialist support, technical guidance, and long-term planning for electrical infrastructure and system lifecycle management, including obsolescence planning.


Key Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Engineering Manager, responsibilities include:
  • Managing the integrity of HV/LV electrical systems, including generators, transformers, motors, electrical control systems, protection, DC systems, and distribution networks.
  • Collaborating with the EC&I Support Engineer and EC&I Graduate Engineer to ensure high system availability, reliability, and knowledge retention for Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
  • Planning and executing electrical inspection activities, ensuring both technical and financial effectiveness during scheduled outages.
  • Developing long-term asset management strategies, including obsolescence planning for station infrastructure.
  • Ensuring correct maintenance planning for electrical and control systems to maximize reliability.
  • Supporting fault-finding, engineering solutions, and root cause analysis for electrical and control system issues.
  • Delivering and project-managing capital projects, including electrical system upgrades and replacements.
  • Contributing to budget planning over a five-year period, managing expenditure and phasing electrical budgets.
  • Overseeing electrical contracts, from identification and budgeting to specification and execution.
  • Leading quality management and documentation of electrical works.
  • Supporting Control & Instrumentation (C&I) requirements within the scope of expertise.


Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Experience with HV and LV electrical equipment (essential).
  • Knowledge of HV and LV protection systems (highly desirable).
  • Understanding of Control & Instrumentation (C&I) systems (desirable).
  • Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) (desirable).
  • Proficiency in IT/IS tools (e.g., MS Office).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence key stakeholders.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent numeracy, literacy, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and results-driven.
  • Commitment to maintaining a positive safety culture.
  • Willingness to develop expertise in C&I systems as needed.


Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering with significant industry experience.
  • Membership or progression toward professional accreditation (e.g., IET, chartership).
  • Training plan to achieve HV Senior Authorised Person (SAP) status.
