Randstad Sourceright, a leading provider of RPO & MSP Recruitment Services is currently seeking a Principal Contractor Site Manager on behalf of a leading infrastructure company.

Job purpose:

The Principal Contractor Site Manager will oversee the day-to-day management and coordination of site activities on major multi-disciplined projects. Working closely with the assigned Project Manager, the role ensures that all technical, safety, integration, and regulatory requirements are met, ensuring seamless delivery of the project. This includes managing site operatives, subcontractors, and maintaining safety and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Site Management: Oversee and manage all site operations, including subcontractors, operatives, and third-party vendors, ensuring compliance with Siemens and client processes.
  • Documentation & Safety Plans: Develop and maintain essential site documentation such as Construction Phase Plans, Emergency Response Plans, RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statements), and the Site Quality Plan. Ensure these documents are up-to-date and reflect project requirements.
  • Temporary Works Supervision: Supervise and ensure safe and compliant execution of temporary works.
  • On-Site Coordination & Integration: Manage seamless integration of the project with clients and other contractors. Ensure technical verifications are recorded at each quality gate and milestone.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Provide leadership to the on-site team, ensuring the safe and timely implementation of installation works to meet project milestones.
  • Quality Assurance & Audits: Ensure the full implementation of quality assurance and auditing procedures throughout the site.
  • Subcontractor & Supplier Oversight: Supervise on-site subcontractor and supplier performance, ensuring technical and safety compliance. Manage the coordination of quality inspections and HSE activities.
  • Site Communication: Set up clear lines of communication with client representatives, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure project alignment and resolve any issues promptly.
  • Progress Tracking & Reporting: Regularly monitor and report on project progress, resources, material requirements, health, safety, quality audits, and inspections. Participate in project meetings, maintaining detailed records of actions and issues.
  • Health, Safety & Environmental Management: Implement and manage HSE procedures with support from the Project Manager and SHE team. Ensure adherence to safety standards and manage site inductions and tool-box talks.
  • Design Change Management: Oversee and manage the Design Change Process, ensuring all necessary documentation and approvals are in place before implementation.
  • Commissioning & Pre-Commissioning: In collaboration with the Lead Engineer and Project Manager, assist in developing and executing detailed commissioning plans, ensuring all pre-commissioning and inspection requirements are met.
  • Waste Management: Maintain accurate records and adherence to the project’s waste management plan.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Proven experience in Principal Contractor Site Management, specifically in multi-disciplinary construction projects.
  • Extensive experience in site supervision, managing subcontractors, and implementing safety controls in a high-stakes construction environment.
  • Experience working with public sector contracts and adhering to rigorous documentation control procedures.
  • Site Management SMSTS (Site Manager Safety Training Scheme).
  • CSCS Black Card.
  • National Grid/National Gas competencies such as Competent Person (Electricity) and SCO91 (Gas).
  • Temporary Works Supervisor.
  • First Aid certification.
  • IOSH certification (Health and Safety).
  • Environmental Awareness (IOSH).
  • HSG47 (Safe Working on Gas Installations) and Impressed Voltage qualifications are desirable.
  • Technical qualification (C&G or equivalent) or equivalent industry experience.
