Our client is a global wood products company with over 60 facilities across the world. Utilising responsibly sourced and sustainably managed forest resources, the company manufactures lumber, engineered wood products, as well as pulp, newsprint, wood chips, and renewable energy.

Their products are widely used in construction, DIY projects, and the furniture industry. 

As a certified net carbon-negative company, they are proud to store more carbon in their products than they emit during production, supporting the UK construction industry in meeting and exceeding net-zero targets.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health & Safety Manager to join their well established EHS team, providing essential support to their fast-paced environment. This role is focused on ensuring the plant operates at the highest standards of Health & Safety, in compliance with H&S and Environmental regulations.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Enhancing the existing Safety Management System to meet site requirements and comply with relevant legislation.
  • Offering expert guidance and support in Health & Safety to site personnel.
  • Developing and coordinating the delivery of the Safety training program.
  • Collaborating with other sites to share best practices and implement the company's safety vision and Health & Safety policies.
  • Assisting in creating systems that promote personal responsibility for safety.
  • Developing a Process Safety Management System and fostering a strong Process Safety culture on-site.
  • Leading High-Risk Employee Management and High-Risk Scenario training.
  • Completing Hazard and Operability Studies for critical processes and new investments/significant changes.
  • Chairing the Safety Steering Committee and directing sub-committees.
  • Managing changes related to Personal and Process Safety.

Qualifications:

  • Degree qualification (preferred)
  • Health & Safety qualifications (NEBOSH or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in a Health & Safety Management role is essential.
