Our client is a highland based law firm - offer a comprehensive range of legal services, including conveyancing, family law, employment law, civil disputes, and business law, as well as estate agency services for buying, selling, and letting properties.

Currently looking for a family law solicitor, you will play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive legal services across the spectrum of family law matters. Your primary responsibilities will include offering solution-oriented advice to clients upon separation and divorce, representing clients in child-related matters including residence and contact disputes, drafting legal documents such as financial settlement agreements and pre/post-nuptial agreements, and engaging in advocacy when required. Additionally, you will actively contribute to the team’s development and be a keen mentor and trainer to junior solicitors, paralegals and support staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide solution-oriented advice to clients upon separation and divorce.
  •  Represent clients in child-related matters including residence and contact disputes, child relocation applications, and child abduction petitions.
  •  Engage, meet, and advise clients independently, ensuring excellent client care throughout the case process.
  • Draft financial settlement agreements, pre/post-nuptial agreements, and cohabitation agreements, offering clear legal advice on their implications.
  • Conduct advocacy in sheriff court litigation, both in person and remotely, and assist in Court of Session litigation when necessary.
  • Collaborate with team members to support clients' needs, attend client meetings, consultations with counsel, prepare legal documents, and cover court hearings.
  •  Contribute to the business development and strategic objectives of the family law practice area.

Person Specification & Skills:

  • Minimum 1-8 years PQE in chosen area
  • Committed to delivering the highest level of client care and service.
  • Strong team player with genuine interest and experience in chosen area.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt communication style appropriately for colleagues and clients.
  • Excellent attention to detail, research, and written/oral communication skills.
  • Proactive, organised, and able to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Proficient in client interaction and building rapport.
  • Enthusiastic, willing to learn, and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
  • Capable of using a combination of both paper and electronic files.
