Are you passionate about driving a world-class safety culture? We are looking for a dedicated and dynamic Health & Safety Manager to join our team at Westfraser Inverness. This role offers the opportunity to shape and promote a proactive health and safety environment, ensuring the highest standards across our site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the evolution of our Safety Management System, ensuring full compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Be the dominant lead for the Safety Star Programme, championing personal health & safety across the workforce.
  • Provide specialist health & safety knowledge and support to all personnel.
  • Develop and coordinate the delivery of comprehensive safety training programmes.
  • Work with Westfraser's Europe and North America sites to share best practices and implement safety visions aligned with company policies.
  • Develop systems to encourage personal ownership of safety, ensuring both personal and process safety performance remains flawless.
  • Take charge of high-risk employee management, scenario training, and hazard/operability studies on critical processes.
  • Own and lead the Safety Steering Committee, providing clear direction and leadership for safety sub-committees.
  • Drive continuous improvement in personal and process safety, ensuring the highest levels of compliance and safe behaviours.
  • Regularly audit work areas, engaging directly with employees to understand and mitigate potential risks.
  • Manage incident/accident investigations, ensuring safety reports are compiled, shared, and used to inform future prevention measures.

  • Proven experience in health & safety management, with a deep understanding of safety legislation.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to promote an interdependent and accountable safety culture.
  • Analytical mindset, with the ability to assess safety data and drive continuous improvements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for engaging and motivating teams.
