Senior Field Service Engineer - Biomass Heating Systems

Location: Inverness, ScotlandHours: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PMSalary: Competitive, Depending on Experience

Are you an experienced engineer with a background in Commercial Plumbing & Heating or Electrical Installation looking to transition into the Biomass sector? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading provider of biomass boiler systems and off-site pre-fabricated MEP solutions, offering full training and career progression in a growing industry.

The Role:

As a Senior Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the planned and reactive maintenance, servicing, and repairs of commercial biomass heating systems across a variety of prestigious Local Authority sites in the Highlands of Scotland. You will work independently to diagnose and resolve issues while ensuring compliance with legislative and contractual obligations.

While based out of Inverness, you will typically travel to client sites from your home location daily. Full training in Biomass systems will be provided to help you quickly integrate into the sector.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on commercial heating systems, including pumps, control valves, pressurisation units, fuel stores, and associated mechanical and electrical services.
  • Diagnose and repair breakdowns efficiently, using your expertise to minimise downtime.
  • Conduct servicing to a high standard, ensuring full compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records using company-provided tablets and cloud-based asset management software.
  • Deliver excellent customer service, building strong relationships with client representatives on-site.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to support seamless operations.
Skills & Experience:

Essential:

  • SNVQ (or equivalent) in Commercial Plumbing & Heating and/or Electrical Installation.
  • Valid UK Driving License.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a relevant industry.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical circuits, and heating principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.

Desirable:

  • Previous Biomass sector experience.
  • Additional certifications in heating, plumbing, or electrical disciplines.
  • Qualified in Oil/Gas Servicing (OFTEC / Gas Safe Modules).
