Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
Location: Beauly
We are seeking, on behalf of our client, an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a leading specialist geotechnical and ground engineering contractor for a key project based in Beauly.
Role Overview
As the Quantity Surveyor, you will provide full commercial support ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. Your responsibilities will include managing pre- and post-contract quantity surveying duties, supporting the Divisional Commercial Lead, and guiding operational teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Review contracts and tenders, contributing to pricing strategies and clarifications.
- Lead contract negotiations and ensure timely execution before project commencement.
- Maximise cash flow through effective management of notices, valuations, and invoicing.
- Support teams with contract administration and commercial matters.
- Monitor and forecast project finances, taking proactive steps to address risks and optimise profitability.
- Identify and resolve cost or progress issues, implementing solutions to improve outcomes.
- Oversee procurement processes, ensuring risks are mitigated, and terms are optimised.
- Manage invoicing, credit control, and aged debt recovery.
- Lead commercial discussions with suppliers and customers.
- Ensure teams understand and complete all required commercial administration tasks.
- Provide advice on measurements, specifications, and compliance matters.
- Compile and present detailed financial and project performance reports.
- Build strong relationships with customer commercial teams and stakeholders.
- Maintain compliance with health and safety standards and proper document storage.
- Assist the Divisional Commercial Manager with resource planning, recruitment, and mentoring.
- Train and develop junior commercial staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
 Required Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant degree or professional qualification (e.g., RICS, CICES) and practical experience.
- Proven expertise in NEC contracts (NEC3 essential) and commercial leadership.
- Proficiency in managing pre- and post-contract commercial functions.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to lead, coach, or delegate as needed.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office and web-based applications.
- Flexibility to travel across the UK and possession of a valid driving licence.
