Blue Arrow are looking for temporary relief drivers mates in the inverness and Highland area.

A Driver's Mate assists the driver of a large goods vehicle (LGV), truck, or van in the delivery and transportation of goods. This role involves helping to load and unload deliveries, ensuring the safe and timely delivery of items, and providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist the driver with loading and unloading the vehicle.

Ensure all items are accounted for against delivery sheets.

Secure goods properly to prevent damage during transit.

Plan routes and navigate, advising the driver on diversions.

Confirm delivery times with customers via telephone.

Help unload goods at the delivery point and place items as requested by customers.

Obtain delivery signatures and process payments if required.

Perform minor vehicle maintenance and cleaning tasks.

Adhere to health and safety regulations, especially when handling hazardous materials.

Requirements:

Good physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy items.

Strong communication and customer service skills.

Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance.

Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

Valid driver's license (optional, but beneficial).

Working Conditions:

May involve weekend work.

Work can be physically demanding and may involve working outdoors in various weather conditions.
