Interim Financial Consultant

Ipswich

Reed Finance Suffolk are delighted to be working with a manufacturing business in Ipswich, on the recruitment of an interim Financial Consultant. The contract is expected to last until May 2025 but could easily extend.

The successful Finance Consultant will report directly to the CFO. You will be a qualified accountant with strong financial reporting experience and extensive post-qualification experience. This position is a hybrid role offering 4 days in office and 1 day remote working.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, monitor, and oversee the budgets and forecasts for both the company and its departments.
  • Supervise accounts receivable, accounts payable, and treasury management to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Prepare and manage ledger entries, including account reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, and wage journals, ensuring precision.
  • Administer accounting software to ensure accurate accounting of all financial transactions, while maintaining proper internal controls.
  • Compile and present monthly financial reports, including the balance sheet, profit and loss statement, cash flow, and other documents according to the corporate closing schedule.
  • Track and create a dashboard for key financial metrics, including monthly KPI reports that highlight departmental performance and trends.
  • Assist with debt collection efforts and manage the reporting of the company’s cash flow status.
  • Oversee inventory standard costing and gross profit management.
  • Organize the annual stocktake.
  • Generate daily, weekly, and monthly costing reports for the company, comparing planned versus actual efficiencies.
  • Coordinate monthly payroll processing with an external provider.
  • Prepare and file returns for VAT, National Insurance, Tax, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with the annual audit conducted by an external public accounting firm.
  • Support acquisition due diligence and the integration of new acquisitions.

Required qualifications and experience :

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
  • Excellent management and interpersonal skills, with proven experience in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting and finance, complemented by solid numerical abilities.
  • A forward-thinking individual with a proactive, “can-do” attitude and a dedication to continuous improvement.
  • Capable of presenting financial data in a clear and accessible way.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical capabilities.
  • Well-organized and self-driven, with a history of meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, along with a good grasp of other Microsoft applications (such as Word, Teams, and PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with accounting systems is a plus.
