Senior Accountant - Part or Fully Qualified ACCA/CIMA

We are seeking an experienced Accountant responsible for finance operations and reporting. This role requires good organisational skills and a "hands-on" approach to construct and expand upon existing financial processes and procedures. The Senior Accountant will have full ownership of the accounts of a subsidiary of the group, making this a pivotal role within our finance team.

Day-to-day of the role:

Month End Close Process:

  • Prepare monthly overhead accruals and prepayments as part of the month-end close.
  • Track and reconcile customer vouchers as deferred income.
  • Conduct intercompany reconciliation and clearing between group companies.
  • Manage intangible and tangible assets accounting and reconciliation, including capitalisation of IT development costs.
  • Review all P&L monthly to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform monthly or quarterly key account reconciliations.

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Track and manage cash-flow and working capital.
  • Process overhead supplier invoices and handle queries.
  • Check ferry operator cost of sales, transaction matching, and query handling.
  • Own overhead & operator supplier statement reconciliation.
  • Assist with overhead & operator supplier payment run preparation.
  • Manage debtor’s ledger, including reconciliation of cash receipts and handling chargebacks and disputes.

Audit, Tax, and Accounts Filing:

  • Support the annual audit processes and respond to audit queries.
  • Prepare statutory accounts for tax and annual filing.
  • Responsible for quarterly VAT return submission.
  • Assist with year-end corporation tax return.

General:

  • Engage in ad-hoc improvement projects and troubleshoot issues.
  • Develop strong working relationships with the management team.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Part or Qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA) with at least one-year post-qualification experience, or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA.
  • Experience in a high-volume transactions business is desirable.
  • Experience with GP Dynamics or similar accounting software is preferred.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work hands-on and independently in resolving issues and finding solutions.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with management, team members, and external parties.
