Design Engineer

Our client is looking for a Design Engineer to join their team in Ipswich. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on the Suffolk Highways contract and be responsible for producing design solutions to maintain and improve highway infrastructure.

Responsibilities of the role:
路Developing highway maintenance schemes through identifying of defects to determining treatments and producing construction documents;
路Assist in producing forward programmes of highway maintenance works;
路Assisting in the management and undertaking of highway condition inspections and surveys;
路Updating and utilising Asset management systems;
路Produce technical reports and other technical output to achieve project outcomes;
路Undertake site visits, surveys and investigations;
路Ensure work is undertaken in compliance with QSE standards and processes;
路Technical training/supervision of Technicians.
路Working collaboratively with customers to understand and develop project objectives.

Requirements of the role:

路Experience in highway maintenance techniques and in identifying pavement treatments and solutions;
路Asset management and construction experience within the highway sector (ideally at least 5 years);
路Understanding and use of asset management systems:
路Interpretation and analysis of asset data:
路Experience in undertaking asset condition surveys:
路Commercial awareness in the delivery of projects;
路Knowledge of Highways England standards including DMRB & MCDHW;
路Good knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety & Environment in design and construction;
路Computer literate on Design software and Microsoft packages;
路Competent user of AutoCAD & Civils 3D (desirable);
路Willingness to work in other UK offices for short term assignments;
路UK/EEC driving licence.
