Field Service Engineer required for a reputable, long established engineering company based in Ipswich.  The successful candidate will provide a high level of service support, analysing and servicing equipment as necessary, carrying out inspections, maintenance and acting as a key part of the Commercial department.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure the completion of service outwork to customer and company satisfaction
  • Completing all required paperwork including WO, scrap reports, time sheets, holiday requests, expenses, sickness forms, etc. Service Engineer’s paperwork to also include service sheets and RAMS
  • Carry out the fitting and assembly of machinery
  • Carry out bearing inspection, removal and fitting
  • Inspection of subcontract parts
  • Work on improving the performance and application of machinery
  • Thoroughly test new and refurbished machinery, rectifying any faults and conducting necessary repairs
  • Create detailed reports of work done and plan out any necessary servicing work
  • Identifying spare part sales to both customer & Commercial sales team
  • Carry out weekly van checks
  • Global & National travel expected
  • Be committed to the learning and understanding the function and operations of all machinery manufactured by the Company with the objective of becoming a technical expert.

Applicants must:

  • An Apprenticeship or other relevant engineering qualification
  • Full Clean UK Driving Licence
  • 5 years previous experience in a similar role (if qualified)
  • 10 years previous experience in a similar role (if unqualified)
  • Experience in grinding and welding and other mechanical techniques
  • Experience in the use of hand tools
  • Experience of Hydraulic, Pneumatic & Electrical systems
  • Working knowledge of lifting & handling techniques for heavy equipment.

Hours of work Monday to Friday 8am – 4pm. Salary c£35K (+ £10-15k travel expenses) This is an excellent opportunity to join a thriving long-established business which offers 25 days holiday plus BH.
