Job Title: Senior Business Analyst
Department: Trading Evolution Programme
Location: Ipswich or Selby/Hybrid (once to twice per week requirement in the office)
Role Overview:
The Senior Business Analyst will play a pivotal role in the Trading Evolution Programme, contributing to the enhancement of energy trading and risk management platforms, digitalisation of data processes, and automation of key operational activities. The role involves building on the mapping of the current trading capabilities, defining the target operating model, and driving improvements across front, middle, and back-office activities in energy trading within the wholesale market. This position requires a blend of strategic thinking, analytical expertise, and senior stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive the development of target operating model, future business capabilities and business architecture frameworks to facilitate seamless transformation.
- Model AS-IS and TO-BE states, encompassing business processes, systems, and people, to identify gaps and define future capabilities.
- Investigate operational requirements, problems, and opportunities, proposing tailored solutions that align with stakeholder needs.
- Conduct comprehensive systems analysis to identify improvements for trading and risk management platforms.
- Determine business problems and opportunities, defining associated business and functional requirements.
- Act as an internal consultant, building business cases for investment and scoping change projects to drive business transformation.
- Engage with stakeholders to ensure alignment with company strategic goals and secure buy-in for proposed initiatives.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (IT and business) to facilitate timely development, test and delivery of effective solutions for the defined change projects and programmes.
- Ensure all changes are consistent with the company's strategic objectives and address stakeholder needs.
- Drive automation efforts across operational activities, enhancing efficiency and accuracy.
- Support the digitalisation of data processes, including the design and implementation of data lakes.
Key Skills and Competencies:
- Extensive Senior BA experience with a solid understanding of Business Architecture concepts.
- Presence and gravitas to communicate and influence senior stakeholders.
- Strong strategic awareness with the ability to analyse change initiatives within the context of the broader business model and strategy.
- Proven experience managing conflicting requirements and influencing decision-making across senior stakeholders.
- Exceptional ability to assimilate large volumes of complex information, translating it into actionable insights and solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong workshop facilitation and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in process modelling tools and techniques.
- Understanding of Agile and Waterfall methodologies
- Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives and solving complex business challenges.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Significant experience as a Senior Business Analyst gained within a large, complex organisation.
- Knowledge of business architecture, data architecture, and the use of data lakes.
- Experience developing target operating models and working across diverse industries and organisational types.
- A track record of creating business cases and conducting cost/benefit evaluations.
- Experience in trading, preferably within energy trading markets.
