Properties & Facilities Operative – Stowmarket Town Council is currently looking for a Properties & Facilities Operative to join our team based in Stowmarket, Suffolk on a full-time basis.

Are you a proactive, hands-on individual? If yes, come join our dynamic Operations Team as Properties & Facilities Operative. In this role, you will be supervising and carrying out maintenance, repair, and operational tasks for Town Council facilities and properties.

Other duties include:

  • Lead both planned and reactive maintenance and repair tasks across Town Council
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules in collaboration with the Operations & Estates Manager
  • Conduct regular compliance checks
  • Assist and deputise for the Community Centre Manager in the daily operations of the Stowmarket Community Centre
  • Actively participate in the planning and execution of Town Council events
  • Assist with general groundskeeping tasks
  • Work with Town Rangers to enhance town services
  • Manage community initiatives and address various community concerns
  • Support the Town Council's Environmental Protection and Carbon Reduction Plan
  • Ensure the upkeep of vehicles, machinery, and tools
  • Maintain high health and safety standards

The Properties & Facilities Operative should have proven experience in facilities management, property maintenance, or a related field. Knowledge of health & safety regulations relevant to facilities and property management is essential. You should be adept at using a range of maintenance tools and equipment safely and effectively. Relevant qualifications in property or facilities management (e.g. NVQ) are desirable. Strong organisational skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, good communication skills (both verbal and written), and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are crucial. Basic IT skills, including the use of email, are required. Personal qualities such as a proactive and positive attitude, leadership ability, reliability, punctuality, and physical fitness for manual tasks are highly valued. The role requires flexibility in working hours, including evenings and weekends, a valid, clean manual driving licence, and preferably familiarity with the local area of Stowmarket.

The Properties & Facilities Operative position is full time working 37 hours per week. In return on offer is a salary of £25, 545 - £28,770 per annum, depending on experiencewith pay award pending. Employee benefits include, 22% employer pension contribution, minimum 31 days leave, including statutory holidays, plus other Employee benefits.
