Seeking a Commodity Manager for an Engineering and Manufacturing Company in Ipswich

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Commodity Manager to join our client, a global engineering company located at their headquarters near Ipswich.

As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for procurement activities within the commodity sector while ensuring compliance with LEAN methodologies.


Key Responsibilities of Commodity Manager:

Buying & Purchasing

  • Manage all aspects of purchasing processes such as supplier selection, negotiation of contracts, and delivery schedules.
  • Ensure that buying decisions adhere to ethical standards set by CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply).


Commodity Management

  • Develop strategies aimed at achieving cost optimization goals through effective management of commodities.
  • Conduct market research on new products/suppliers/vendors available to improve product quality or reduce costs.


Indirect Procurement

  • Manage indirect spend categories across multiple sites globally through coordination with stakeholders from different departments like IT services/Marketing/Human Resources etc.,


Qualifications, Skills & Experience Required for Commodity Manager Role

  • Degree-Educated or QBE
  • Prior experience as a Technical Buyer, Procurement Office or Commodity Manager with experience in Direct & Indirect Spent (IT Services, Marketing, Human Resources etc)
  • CIPS Qualification - The ideal Commodity Manager candidate should hold relevant qualifications accredited by Chartered Institute Of Procurement And Supply (CIPS) anda/or be working towards their CIPS status
  • LEAN Six Sigma Methodology - Knowledgeable about implementation techniques used when optimizing production workflows according Lean principles. Familiarity with process re-engineering practices would also be beneficial since it's key towards continuous improvement efforts.
