Reed Engineering are working with an amazing company that are going through an impressive growth period, they are seeking a Project Manager/Co-ordinator with a strong background in project management to join the team at their Ipswich office. This role is ideal for someone with experience in engineering or construction, who is adept at leading teams and managing complex projects. The successful candidate will be instrumental in triaging engineering requests, planning and ensuring the smooth execution of engineering tasks.
Day-to-day of the role:- Triage Engineering Requests: Ensure all requests have sufficient detail and collaborate with requestors to break large tasks into manageable parts.
- Task Estimating: Work with the Engineering team to add rough estimates to requests.
- Planning Meeting: Lead the Monday meeting to schedule the week’s work, ensuring the planned work does not exceed team capacity.
- Collaboration: Encourage team members to interface with each other before starting tasks and schedule meetings if necessary.
- Progress Check: Monitor task progress and communicate early if tasks are likely to miss deadlines.
- Assistance: Help engineers overcome any blockers to task completion.
- Protect Team: Manage incoming requests for additional work to ensure engineers can focus on assigned tasks.
- Backlog Review: Regularly review the backlog for busy periods or lower capacity and discuss outsourcing if needed.
- Training & Mentoring: Ensure processes are followed and provide training and mentoring to staff.
- Process Iteration: Continuously improve processes and communicate changes to the business.
- Reporting: Create weekly reports on tasks completed, estimates vs actuals.
- Analysis: Monitor the types of requests received and the team’s capacity to handle them, working to address any skill gaps.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to facilitate team self-organisation.
- Effective communication skills, ensuring clarity and transparency with team members and stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving abilities to handle impediments and conflicts.
- High level of adaptability and openness to change.
- Proficient in facilitating meetings and coaching team members.
- Technical knowledge in Engineering or Construction is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Excellent time management skills to meet project deadlines.
- Holiday: 24 days, increasing with service.
