Health and Safety Manager
Ipswich
£70,000 £75,000 Car/Car allowance

We are currently seeking a Health and Safety Manager to join our Civil Engineering and Energy clients. The role will be based in Ipswich but will require travelling to site and office, comes with a salary up to £75,000 plus car/car allowance.

Responsibilities of Health and Safety Manager

  • Health and Safety Manager will lead the development of a proactive health and safety culture
  • Promote and sustain measures to improve health and safety standards, ensuring full compliance with OHSAS 18001, health and safety legislation, and Minimum Safety Standards (MSS).
  • Conduct proactive site audits to address issues and drive continuous improvement.
  • Implement and manage an induction system
  • Oversee thorough investigations of accidents and incidents
  • Develop and maintain a Construction Phase Health & Safety Plan, ensuring it is prepared, approved, and regularly updated throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Introduce innovative initiatives to improve safety standards and encourage safe working practices.
  • Assist with preconstruction activities - tenders and Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs),
  • Facilitate discussions on health and safety issues, resolving conflicts to ensure optimal outcomes for the project.
  • Establish and monitor a schedule of weekly health and safety inspections involving operational staff, senior management, and support teams.
Requirements for Health and Safety Manager
  • Proven track record as a Health and Safety Manager on major infrastructure projects.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a construction-related discipline.
  • NEBOSH or IOSH certification is essential.
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Safety training including Fire, Confined Spaces, First Aid, COSHH, HSG 47
