We are currently recruiting for an experienced Customs Clearance Coordinator who has a strong background in an International Logistics Customs environment, who is seeking a role that will provide full support and training with a clear pathway for building their career and personal development.

Duties include (not limited to):

Recognise client commercial invoice(s) and packing list(s) extracting data as necessary to complete import CDS declarations and export CHIEF declarations.

Liaising with importers and internal operational colleagues to obtain mandatory information for the preparation of import entries.

Aiding clients on the classification of goods and their importance.

Signing of documents under a Power of Attorney on behalf of clients.

Entering details onto specialised Customs software including CDS, CNS, Destin8, NCTS, NES etc.

Allocating the correct licences depending on type of goods being imported.

Be fully conversant with import Customs regulations, whilst keeping up to date with changes as they occur.

Inform customers on import restrictions, tariff systems, insurance requirements and all other Customs related matters.

Preparation and/or handling of necessary import documentation, including T-documents, EUR1s, Certificates of Origin (CofO), CHEDs, COIs and other cargo control documents, as well as discharge process of T-documents etc.

Liaise with Port Health or Customs officials in areas such as document checks, goods quarantine etc.

Ensuring the highest standards of customer service, ensuring customs entries are completed on time.

Customs compliance within the team .

Data accuracy in filling in details of the consignments.

Requirements

Essential

Demonstrate experience within an operational Customs environment, managing International Logistics Customs documentation.

Excellent communication skills and customer service skills.

Ability to operate Microsoft packages and learn new systems easily.

Ability to operate software that is standard within the industry.

Numerical and analytical skills, paying attention to detail.

Self-motivating and be able to organise your work effectively and maintain records.

Excellent administration skills.

Recognised pass rate for GCSE in Maths and English.

Although you will work as part of a team, you need to be self-motivating and be able to organise your work effectively and maintain records.

Work in a fast-paced environment ensuring clearance processes are completed in a complaint and timely manner.

Desirable

Demonstrate experience of managing HMRC obligations around Import & Export Customs.

Recognised academic qualifications within the Customs Industry would be advantageous.

Ideally fully conversant with Customs applications such as CHIEF, CDS, NCTS & NES.

Have a basic understanding of ETSF warehouse processes.

Educated to A-Level / Degree level desired but not essential.

Customer focused, both internally with colleagues and externally with clients

Complex problem solving and the ability to engage critical thinking skills will be required as well as the ability to actively listen and interpret concisely.
