Arcas Technology is partnered with a leading healthcare provider based in Ipswich. They are seeking a skilled SQL Database Administrator to join their team on a permanent basis.

You will be fully responsible for overseeing the implementation, configuration, upkeep, and optimisation of essential SQL Server systems, ensuring that applications remain available and perform consistently.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the management of SQL Server databases across various stages of the product lifecycle, from development through to production.
  • Handle SQL backups, restores, and collaborate with IT teams as needed to ensure data integrity.
  • Manage SQL replication processes, adhering to industry best practices.
  • Configure and maintain database servers and associated processes, monitoring system health and performance to ensure optimal operation, availability, and security (covering aspects like memory, CPU, storage, and server uptime).
  • Assist in troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving issues related to SQL Servers and T-SQL.
  • Streamline and automate routine database maintenance tasks, while tracking and documenting any changes or issues.
  • Manage and maintain SSIS, T-SQL scripts, stored procedures, database agent jobs, Windows scheduled tasks, and SQL maintenance plans.
  • Provide support to developers by optimising complex queries and refining database schemas.

Skills

  • Proficient in MS SQL Server administration.
  • Strong understanding of relational database design principles.
  • Experience with performance tuning and optimization, utilising SQL Server Profiler and other diagnostic tools.
  • Expertise in backup, restore, and recovery processes.
  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies for SQL Server.
  • Familiarity with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server Agent jobs.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI.
  • Strong SQL programming skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Solid understanding of SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
  • Familiarity with additional programming languages, such as R or Python.
  • Experience working with Windows Server and SQL Server environments.
