Electronics PCB Layout Engineer

The OSP Group are looking for an experienced Electronics PCB Layout Engineer to join our electrical manufacturing client based in Ipswich, Suffolk.

The ideal candidate will have have a strong electrical PCB manufacturing background and be looking for a position where they can grow, be valued and add value to the already successful team.

Key responsibilities:

• Design high-quality PCB layouts using tools such as Altium Designer.
• Work on multi-layer, single-layer, and flex PCB designs.
• Convert electrical schematics into optimized PCB layouts.
• Optimize component placement and routing for performance, manufacturability, and testability.
• Ensure PCB designs comply with EMC standards and support manufacturability.
• Generate and manage design documentation, including Gerber files and BOMs.
• Support prototype testing and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with design and firmware teams to ensure smooth hardware-software integration.
• Manage project timelines to meet milestones and deadlines.
• Provide technical support and interact directly with customers to understand their requirements.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of PCB design processes.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

• Proven experience in PCB layout design (single-layer, double-layer, multi-layer PCBs).
• Strong knowledge of DFM (Design for Manufacture) and EMC compliance principles.
• Experience with both surface-mount and through-hole components.
• Ability to manage complex projects with multiple deliverables.
• Excellent customer-facing and interpersonal skills.

Desirable Skills

• Proficiency with Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout.
• Experience with Flex PCB designs.
• Knowledge of signal integrity and power distribution best practices.
• Previous experience in embedded electronics is an advantage.

Standard working hours:

Monday to Friday

08:00 - 17:00

Salary:

30,000 - 45,000
