We are seeking an Accounts Payable Team Leader to join our dedicated team in Ipswich. The successful candidate will manage and develop the accounts payable team, ensuring efficient processes and compliance with internal controls. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in managing high-volume transactional accounts payable functions and a desire to drive continuous improvement.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Manage and develop the accounts payable team, driving performance and delivery of objectives.
  • Oversee daily operations, including month-end close process, supplier statement reconciliations, invoice processing, and supplier payments.
  • Establish proactive supplier statement reconciliation processes to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Implement clear service level agreements (SLAs) and an escalation process for efficient resolution of issues.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, procurement teams, and finance leads.
  • Work alongside the AP manager to provide valuable data to support business operations.
  • Continuously improve internal controls and harmonise processes to best practice.
  • Ensure the team receives appropriate training and support.
  • Produce management information to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with payment practice reporting and CIS tax submissions.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in improving internal control and process frameworks.
  • Strong communication skills across various stakeholders.
  • Experience managing a high-volume transactional Accounts Payable function.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Line management experience, including managing temporary resources.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads.
  • Positive and focused attitude with a flexible approach to work.
  • Continuous learning and development mindset.
  • Experience with Access Dimensions, Concept, Microsoft Dynamics 365, and OCR technology is desirable.
  • AAT level 4 or comparative finance qualification is desirable.
  • High level of Microsoft Excel competency.
