Credit Control / Finance Officer

Reed Accountancy are excited to be representing a leading public sector client in Ipswich, to recruit for a Credit Control / Finance Officer to join the Financial Operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and organising financial processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the university’s financial operations.

Contract: Full-time, permanent, agile working (1-3 days working from home after training)

Location: Central Ipswich, Suffolk

Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday-Friday

Salary: £32,000-£36,000 per annum

Duties/responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement robust credit control processes to ensure timely payments and reduce outstanding debts.
  • Organise and streamline existing financial procedures, identifying areas for improvement and implementing best practices.
  • Monitor debtor balances to ensure a reduction in debtors DSO and prevent old debts.
  • Reconcile transactions and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Liaise with various university departments to ensure cohesive financial practices.
  • Provide regular reporting on financial status and progress to the Head of Financial Operations.
  • Working closely with the Financial Operations team.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in credit control and finance within a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of financial processes and the ability to implement improvements effectively.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficient in the use of financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • A relevant finance qualification (e.g., AAT, CICM, ACCA) is desirable.
