You will be responsible for providing strategic financial guidance to the board of directors and implementing robust financial processes to support their growth and sustainability. This role requires a hands-on approach, as you will be actively involved in day-to-day financial activities, while also leading long-term financial planning and analysis.Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the achievement of the company's business objectives by providing advice and guidance on financial strategy.
  • Develop and control the company’s annual operating budget to ensure that all financial targets are met, and financial and statutory regulations complied with.
  • Management of financial systems and resources - to include the assessment, identification and implementation of appropriate improvements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of financial information - to include Weekly Reports, Monthly/Quarterly/Annual Management Accounts, Budgets and Forecasts, relevant indicators of business performance (KPI’s).
  • The administration of the company’s financial assets - to include cost control and development/implementation of cost reduction strategies.
  • Evolve budgeting models to allow for various scenarios, sensitivity analysis and rolling forecasts.
  • Integrate with all departments and provide input into tender processes.
  • Support the Managing Director in investigating new business ventures and the reviewing the capital investment plans.
  • Provide financial advice and guidance to the company's managers and staff to enable them to achieve their objectives.
  • Develop and maintain all necessary systems, policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient financial management within the company.
  • Monitor external contracts and services provided by suppliers to ensure that these are operating effectively and provide the best value to the company.

Main Working Relationships:

You will be a key member of the senior management team, reporting directly to the Managing Director and working alongside other senior managers and key stakeholders, including external partners e.g. banks, solicitors, auditors, insurers and HMRC.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Fully qualified and experienced accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or other professional qualification), with a sound and proven ability to effectively manage production of year-end financial accounts and cashflows.
  • Highly numerate with strong analysis skills and strong attention to detail with an enquiring mind and strategic ability.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience of working in an agricultural/manufacturing/SME business and dealing with multiple entities would be advantageous. Demonstrable experience of working within a busy commercial environment and can manage workload and multiple priorities within tight deadlines with a detailed understanding of the fundamental duties and responsibilities of a proactive management accounting function.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and planning. High level of IT literacy (advanced user of MS Office or equivalent). While based predominantly at the head office in Suffolk, some travel to the company’s other sites will be required from time-to-time. As such, a full driving licence would be advantageous.
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of Sage 50 Accounting System would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
