Inside Sales Executive - Import East & West Med

Full time, Temporary (12 months)

We are looking for an Inside Sales Executive to join our Import Commercial department looking after cargo importing into the UK from the East & West Mediterranean. Relationship building is an essential part of this role both internally with other departments and with new and existing customers. This role is largely focused on developing the amount of business and giving our customers a reason to ship with MSC.

Skills and experience you’ll bring to us

We’d like you to bring an open mind and an element of creativity to want to secure more business and build the relationships with our customers. You’ll be a great communicator with the ability to influence decisions both internally and externally. Previous shipping knowledge and experience is helpful, however, we will always support learning and training our people. A high level of experience within Microsoft Office is also an essential part of this role due to extensive use in different day to day tasks.

How you will help us and what you can expect

  • Exploring opportunities to increase volume by developing closer customer relationships
  • Develop new and existing business from pricing enquiries
  • Customer follow up
  • Identifying and promoting attractive business opportunities to Trade
  • Work closely with Geneva Liner team and Sales to proactively retain and grow accounts
  • Monitoring rates within the market, both ocean and landside, and updating Trade, Sales and MSC Geneva
  • Mindful of contribution toward overall Trade revenue targets
  • Ensure quotations are processed in a timely, accurate manner within agreed KPI’s
  • Ensure all quotations are followed up within a timely, accurate manner within agreed KPI’s
  • Ensure freight rates and landside charges are accurately communicated and filed within Tariff Management Systems
  • Strong communication and liaison across the Commercial teams and the wider business, particularly MSC Geneva, to ensure full commercial and operational support is given the Trade
  • Supporting the team as back up where required handling reporting, queries and resolution
