GSL Education are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to become an integral part of a vibrant school community in Ipswich. As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), you will play a vital role in supporting teachers by delivering high-quality instruction and facilitating learning for students in the classroom. You will also provide tailored support to individual students or small groups, helping to enhance their academic progress and emotional well-being while contributing to the overall learning environment.

Responsibilities of the Higher Level Teaching Assistant:

  • Collaborate with teachers in the planning and delivery of lessons.
  • Facilitate small group activities and targeted interventions.
  • Offer individualised support to students requiring additional assistance.
  • Supervise classes in the absence of the teacher.
  • Contribute to the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Partner with colleagues to establish a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist in classroom management and behaviour support strategies.

Requirements of the Higher Level Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience working as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) or similar role.
  • A recognised HLTA qualification or equivalent.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build good relationships with students and staff.
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN) is desirable.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A positive, can-do attitude and a passion for education.
  • Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
