A client of ours in the Ipswich area are recruiting an IT Support Technician to join their team. This is a full-time permanent position working Monday - Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm and paying 33,000 - 35,000 per annum depending on experience. Hybrid working is available after a successful probation, working 3 days in the office and 2 from home.

Primarily a second line role, the IT Support Technician will be a point of contact for end-users, providing updates and ensuring identified faults are assigned the correct level of priority and attention.

Reporting to the IT Manager, key duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provide second-line support handling escalated issues.
  • Maintain system infrastructure (Active Directory, Azure AD, LAN, firewalls, Exchange/Office 365).
  • Perform proactive tasks (patching, firmware updates, security management, system documentation).
  • Resolve escalated server and network performance issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems.
  • Manage third-party relationships and suppliers.
  • Assist with IT capacity planning and enhancements.
  • Set up new desktops/laptops (remote or on-site).
  • Keep documentation up to date.
  • Attend external sites for issue resolution and proactive maintenance.
  • Please note periodic out-of-hours/on-call work may be required.


Skills and Experience required to be considered for this IT Support Technician position:

  • 3+ years' experience on a helpdesk, technical support, or similar role
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server operating systems
  • Good Knowledge of backup and DR services (Azure)
  • Experience supporting larger organisation (250 headcount +)
  • Experience managing switches and routers
  • Strong knowledge of troubleshooting networking protocols and technologies such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing and vLANs
  • Access to own vehicle required.
