  • Location: Ipswich with a short term project across Norfolk & Suffolk
  • Job Type: Full-time - 10 Month Fixed Term Contract, potential to become a permanent 1st line role.

Join my client as a 1st Line IT Engineer, where you will serve as the first point of contact for technical issues, supporting their collective vision to excel in their sector. This role involves not only technical support but also administrative tasks and occasional out-of-hours support on a rota basis. You will be part of the ICT Services team, dedicated to managing and enhancing the technology infrastructure to align with our business objectives.

Predominantly this is a 1st line support role, but there is a short term project that will require you to visit sites across Norfolk and Suffolk to replace and upgrade hardware, so you will need a full UK drivers license.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Call Management and Direction:
    • Efficiently filter and direct incoming calls to ensure they are handled promptly.
  • Helpdesk Ticket Resolution:
    • Address and resolve a high volume of helpdesk tickets, focusing on quick and effective solutions.
  • Practical IT Skills Application:
    • Utilize your practical IT skills for troubleshooting, resolving issues, and installing equipment across various locations.
  • Collaboration and Support:
    • Collaborate with the wider IT team and suppliers, and participate in cross-training to enhance departmental knowledge and support capabilities.
  • Security and Compliance Focus:
    • Maintain system integrity, uphold security standards, and adhere to the Cyber ISMS policy suite to ensure compliance with policies and legislation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in an IT support role.
  • Strong practical IT skills, including the ability to handle physical aspects of the job such as using tools and ladders to install hardware.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of IT security standards and compliance requirements.
  • Flexibility to participate in out-of-hours support on a rota basis.
