PURPOSE OF ROLE 

Are you a skilled Commercial Underwriter with a keen eye for risk assessment and a passion for Property & Casualty insurance? Our client, a well-established and prominent insurance company, is looking for a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills to join their underwriting team.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Achieve team targets by underwriting Property & Casualty products profitably
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients
  • Ensure accurate and consistent underwriting of products
  • Represent the company in broker meetings to secure new clients
  • Monitor account performance and implement corrective actions when necessary

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS 

  • Demonstrate commercial awareness with strong negotiation skills
  • Eagerness to learn and challenge existing practices
  • Ability to understand and anticipate customer and market needs
  • Proven teamwork and accountability in achieving goals
  • Expertise in assessing and managing risks effectively
  • Strong analytical and numerical reasoning skills for practical decision-making in technical underwriting
  • Experience in mentoring and developing team members
  • Proficiency in analysing accounts and creating strategic action plans

EXPERIENCE 

  • Experience in making informed decisions across various technical underwriting scenarios within a commercial environment
  • Proven ability to coach team members, collaborate effectively, and consistently achieve results
  • Strong business insight, adept negotiation abilities, and the capacity to establish and maintain robust broker relationships
  • Keen understanding of customer and market needs, with the ability to integrate this knowledge into daily work and capitalise on development opportunities
