Job Title: Part-Time Legal Secretary

Salary: £24,000 - £27,000 pro rata

Hours: 3 - 4 days per week

Casanovas Recruitment Solutions are seeking a proactive, detailed-orientated Legal Secretary to join the Private Client department in an Ipswich based law firm on a part-time basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a structured, client focussed environment and is looking to contribute to a supportive and experienced legal team. Due to the nature of this Legal Secretary role, which includes direct client interaction, document handling and confidential administrative support - this position is office-based only.

Main areas of responsibility:

  • Onboarding new clients, ensuring a smooth and professional experience by collecting necessary documentation and providing clear guidance on the process
  • Conducting Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and ID checks in compliance with legal and regulatory standards
  • Managing a variety of administrative tasks including answering client calls, scheduling appointments, archiving documents, closing files, and maintaining accurate records
  • Acting as a "float" assistant to fee earners in the department, providing support across the team as needed
  • Typing and preparing legal documents, including dictations, Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs), and other Private Client-related materials
  • Maintaining client files, both digital and hard copy, ensuring all information is up to date and securely stored
  • Assisting with case file management, helping to monitor deadlines and progress on active matters
  • Providing a high standard of client care, both in person and over the phone, and handling sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
  • Supporting the department with general office duties such as filing, photocopying, scanning, and post handling

Required Skills & Desired Experience:

  • Previous experience in a Private Client department or in a legal secretarial role is highly desirable
  • Excellent typing and dictation skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently
  • Confident communicator with a professional telephone manner and excellent interpersonal skills
