What is the role?

We are recruiting for an experienced Engineer to work in our busy Technical Department. As an Engineer you will be an integral part of the Technical team overseeing external Design and Engineering Consultants involved in the project management and administration of all technical and design matters for various residential projects.

The role of an Engineer is to support a number of housing developments through the delivery of cost effective engineering solutions. The successful candidate must be adaptable, have a strong and consistent management approach to managing external consultants.

The role will include:
  • Assist in the production of layouts and technical reports for Land Appraisals; and required working drawings
  • Brief and commission site investigations, topographical survey and other assessment reports on land acquired
  • Brief engineering consultants on scope of design, which includes roads, sewers, private drainage, retaining walls, external levels, foundation designs any other substructures below DPC level either private or adopted
  • Initial negotiations/enquiries with statutory bodies and utility undertakers on environmental, drainage, highways and other engineering issues when appraising land
  • Co-ordinate and procure the provision of utility infrastructure and utility diversions
  • Issue engineering information to Commercial, Construction and Sales departments
  • Fee negotiation and appointment of consultants
  • Answering Technical queries
  • Comply with responsibilities as laid down in the Group's Health, Safety and Environment Policy
What we need from you?
  • Ideally qualified to HNC level or equivalent in a civil engineering or building-related discipline with some residential project experience
  • By way of technical experience you will be conversant with current building regulations and CDM you will also have a thorough knowledge of current EA/Water Authority/Highway regulations and adoption agreements
  • Must have excellent knowledge of AutoCAD and be able to communicate effectively with both internal departments and external bodies
  • You must be an enthusiastic and hardworking individual who is willing to undertake all necessary training
