Our client is seeking a design graduate to join and grow with their engineering team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in designing and optimizing niche machinery while working on key client projects.

Job Overview:

As a Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer, you will develop detailed designs for manufacturing machinery and associated components, ensuring compliance with performance specifications and industry standards. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive product innovation and ensure quality and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development: Create 3D models and detailed drafts using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Analysis and Validation: Conduct stress, thermal, and vibration analysis using simulation tools like FEA and CFD.
  • Prototyping and Testing: Collaborate with manufacturing teams to produce and evaluate prototypes, implementing design improvements as needed.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare technical reports and maintain accurate records of design revisions.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with manufacturing, quality, and project management teams, as well as liaising with clients to understand project requirements and provide technical support.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree / HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industry knowledge and experience.
  • At least 3 years of proven experience in designing and developing machinery, such as printing, labeling, or die-cutting systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, Solidedge).
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, material selection, and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with engineering analysis tools.

Desirable Skills and Attributes:

  • Knowledge of vibration analysis, stress dynamics, and balancing techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to design challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts clearly.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.

Additional Role Information:

  • Salary of up to £34,000 plus discretionary bonus scheme.
  • 40 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 8.00am to 5.00pm and Friday 8.00am to 2.00pm.
